About of WalMart Money Card Prepaid Visa
The Walmart MoneyCard is a debit card that you can add money to at any time. However, the terms of the card does specify some exceptions. The card does not carry a line of credit. It works that same way as a traditional debit card. The card can be used to make purchases or you can use it as a savings account for big purchases or holiday shopping.
The MoneyCard can be purchased at a participating Walmart store or you can apply for the card online. After you fill out the application, you are given a temporary card. After you have your temporary card, you can set up and activate the Money Card online at the Walmart website or by calling the 800 number. You will receive your permanent personalized card and your selected PIN in the mail in 5 to 10 business days after activating the card.
You need to be at least 18 years old to buy and use the Walmart MoneyCard without parental consent. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can buy a MoneyCard with parental consent. Students using the card should have a school identification card or driver’s license to show for identification when using the card. Some retailers may make this request to verify that the card belongs to you.
The card is a debit card and does not affect your credit history. You cannot build up your credit rating by using the Walmart MoneyCard. You can only spend as much money as you have available on the card. If you make a purchase for an amount over what you have available, the purchase will be denied.
If you decide you don’t want the card anymore, you simply don’t reload it with money and cut it up before throwing it away. The card will become deactivated after no money has been reloaded for a period of 60 days.
